The Shamanic Path

Journey through the roles of the Shaman and gain an understanding of the wisdom teachings behind the Shamanic way of life. Learn about the various skills of the Shamanic practitioner including working with the elements, the art of shapeshifting and the 4 cycles of Death. Rediscover that which the ancient cultures knew- our ancestral connections bring about the fulfillment of our destiny and the path to healing. This workshop includes guided imagery and suggestions for creating ancestral alters.

Hoop Style Drummaking - Shaman Peace Drum - 14", 16", or 20"

Indigenous people around the world have used Hoop Drums to commune with spirit and bring healing and wholeness to the self and the community. Journey with others on this sacred path and create your own deer rawhide drum from start to finish along with a leather covered beater. We will begin with a ceremony to remind us of our connection to the deer spirit and to the universal rhythms of life and conclude with a blessing ceremony to honor the power of our Drum.

This is a 2 day workshop. (4 hours each day)

Manifestations of the Orisha

This workshop focuses on bringing to those that have not been initiated into the traditions of Ifa an understanding and respect of the Forces of Nature known as the Orisha .We will discuss the manifestations of the Orisha in our daily life. Recognizing and working with these Forces of Nature can bring growth and power to those that learn to see the Orisha in others, in the powers of the mother earth, in herbs and plants, and in relationship to each other. It will cover the creation of alters used for devotion, prayers for personal use, and cleansing and healing baths as they relate to the qualities of each Orisha.

Divine Vessels

This workshops focus is on the concept of the vessel and its contents (the container and the contained) as the manifestation of the Divine Union of the male and female. Through stories from indigenous cultures, guided imagery and group sharing we will explore the relationship between the male and the female. We will gain insight into the true nature of the connection of male and female to each other and to the Divine.

Wishing Wands (for children)

In this class children will create a prayer wand of their wishes from sticks, yarn, beads and feathers. Prayer sticks are used by many cultures to help one to focus on their hopes, desires and healing for themselves and/or others. This class includes a story and some teaching on the Medicine Wheel of the Native Americans.

Wishing Wands (for teens and adults)

I can also do the above class for young teens and teens and adults. I prefer age 16 and up in the adult class because the class is more comprehensive. There will be a guided meditation and more in-depth teaching on of the wheel of life and the nature of healing from Native American and African cosmology in the adult class.

Spirit Dolls (Creating from the Heart)

In this workshop we will create a simple doll of our beautiful spiritual self. The crafting of this doll allows us to bring into form our strengths and gifts and to encourage growth and healing in areas of ourselves in need of love and caretaking. (The doll can be made in the image of the self or of a loved one.) This workshop includes lecture information on the nature of healing based on the cosmology of the Dargara people of West Africa, storytelling, guided imagery and concludes with a self honoring and blessing ritual. All Materials are included and art or craft experience is not necessary. [3 hour workshop]

Edge Beading

Have you ever wanted to add that special touch to an amulet or medicine pouch, alter cloth or ritual clothing? This class teaches basic edge beading techniques and fringe techniques with variations customized to your skill level. No art or craft experience is necessary. Age 14 and up

Learn the basics to making a basket. In this workshop you will learn to make a simple "throw away" basket. These baskets were traditionally made from materials found next to the berry bushes so that some berries could go home with the lucky one that found them. Ours will be made from rattan and some found and natural objects and will be sturdy enough to hold some of your own treasures.
